Web_Log_Jpl isn't a program from me (joz), but from my French friend, Jean Paul. I just offer him the webspace. I like this freeware because it doesn't only does great what it has to do, simplifying your modem's log file to a much more readable format for analyzing your online times, but it may also detect a number of problems you may have with your analogue dial-up modem. The rest of this page is written by Jean Paul. Check it out!What is it:
I created this program to check my Compuserve bills. I found out that Windows keeps a log of the modem activity, but this log is hard to read. So I guessed that others may like it too. This program analyzes off-line the content of the Modem Log, and resumes it with a smaller 'by day' format. It can also add the information from Compuserve billing at the right place, and do some weekly totals. It will also report other Modem uses (Fax, Minitel) not related to the Internet, if they are using Windows services.How to use:
Start Web_Log_Jpl.exe from the Explorer, the Execute menu, or create an icon for it. On the first usage, you must enter and save the files names, as explained in the Help. You can take the defaults, except for the Modem log which is usually in \Windows, with a name like : Your_modem_name.log. The other files are best into the program directory.What do you need for this 32-bits Web_Log_Jpl v1.0:
* At least a 486 PC.
* Windows 95/98. It may work with NT4.0/2000, but is not tested (Log may not be accessible).
* Use a RAS/DUN modem connection to the web. It will not work on ISDN (no log).
* msvbvm50.dll in your \windows\system directory (See Runtime download below).
* Pkunzip or WinZip to unzip the program.Download the latest version (37K).
Once downloaded, to install the program:
* Unzip all files into a directory of your choice.
* Create an icon to start it if you wish (Drag the program file over to the desktop).
* The readme.txt file contains all information to install and use the program.
* Check if your system has the Visual Basic 5 Runtime (Msvbvm50.dll has to be in \windows\system).
* If you don't have Msvbvm50.dll, you can download a VB5 Runtime over here.Version Changes:
* 1.0, Initial version, 05-12-2000.Disclaimer:
